My name is Oliver and I'm a "shih tzu - toy poodle puppy cross|I'm a shihpoo not a schnoodle or a schmoodle"
81Hi, I'm a Puppy and my name is "Oliver". I'm a 'Shihpoo'.
My mum is a Shih-Tzu and my dad is a Toy Poodle.
This is a true story about my life with my new family.
I was born on a Farm way out in the countryside in a town called "Mirboo North", down Bairnsdale/ Lakes Entrance way. I was told this is a great place to live because the air here is clear and the climate is wonderful for us growing puppies!
My Brothers, Sister's and I come from a line of Shih-Tzu and Toy Poodles (we thought we were Schnoodles or Schmoodles but now we have been told we are Shihpoos) were having a lot of fun running around and playing together, as well as sleeping a lot and eating heaps.
My New Life Begins!
One day a strange car pulled up in the driveway. I was about 11 weeks old, it was then that my Foster Mum told me it was time for me to go and live with a new family , Well that sounded exciting and wonderful but also a little frightening and sad at the same time. She also told me I would be going for a ride in a car, have my very own warm and cosy bed, plus all new toys just for me and that we would be staying with friends at the Lakes for a week (what are the Lakes?) where they had a schnauzer. He's a "boy"! The same as me! They said I could play with him!
Then I would be going to my new home! So much information, how will I remember it all?
I was a little apprehensive at first!
I then started thinking who are these folks,I don't known them, should I go with strangers, I guess They look OK, Everything will be fine so don't worry, at the same time crossing my paws.
Oh. I nearly forgot, My new mum and dad named me "Oliver" I believe it suit's me and makes me feel very brave and important.
Meet my Brother
My Brother whom friends of ours adopted, looks just like me, his name is "Chris". His mum and Dad have a Yacht and he goes sailing a lot. He looks cute in his life jacket.
Each time we go to The Lakes on holiday we catch up and share what is going on in our lives. We have a great time together. That's enough about him.
The Story continues!
Now I am tired, so my Mum and Dad will tell you the rest ( so far) cause I am still only a Baby and I need a lot of sleep, so that I can grow up to be fit and healthy, and be able to play with my new best friends one is a Blue Heeler and the other a schnauzer, They are really big, but very nice to me.
Mum and Dad were a bit slow getting around to telling their version of my story, so now that I have had a big sleep, my dinner has been digested and I have been outside to do you know what I am ready to continue all by myself without their help, anyway it will be more fun and interesting coming from me first hand. I think so anyway.
My Puppy Training
I was booked in to Puppy Training School, that was very interesting, being taught to sit, stay, and to be nice to all the other puppies, (they were all bigger than me) and to come when called, that was not to my liking, why should I, when you are in the middle of doing something that you like, couldn't see the point in stopping and going somewhere that you didn't want to, Well that soon changed, they offered me Liver treats or small pieces of Kabana and I soon got the hang of it.
I passed my training with flying colors and they gave me a certificate which mum and dad framed and hung on the wall.
Settling in at Home
I spend a lot of time out doors playing with my friend Flipper, I jump all over him, when he is laying down relaxing and he doesn't even growl at me. not even when I nick his food, so I just keep doing it until my mum or dad catch me, then I'm in a bit of trouble.
We go for long walks over in the Sporting Complex, where there are lakes with birds and ducks, also Rabbits live over there and lots of wildlife. oh but I'm not allowed to chase any of these animals , because well trained puppies don't do things like that. oh dear once I forgot, only once.
We also go down to our back paddock and I run through the grass, with my beautiful tail flying behind me, it is such fun. I love my mum and dad.

To see how we all live together please read Oliversmum's Hub ...
I am still "Naughty"
Sometimes I get into just a little trouble they say "you are a Naughty Boy Oliver" well I have a very good excuse for what they are growling at me for. Its blowing a gale, freezing cold and raining like the dickens. they have put me outside to do woopsie that's what they call it , So that's what I do "on the back porch", now I ask you, would you want to get a wet tooshie or wet feet. I bet you wouldn't, well neither did I. Oh well they clean it up and get over it, until the next time I hear "you are a naughty boy Oliver" Oh goodness when will I ever learn, soon I hope, being in trouble is not much fun.
I have a bath every two weeks, ( I roll in every bit of smelly stuff that I can find it feels so good). But oh dear I do hate getting wet,but I love being dried with the hair dryer, And I get clipped every 6 weeks, plus have my nails cut and my ears cleaned. I do smell sweet after all that, but boy it does make me very tired.
I have just had my first birthday and got lots of presents. A new bed shaped like a house, it is so comfortable and I can snuggle up in it, also a new warm blanket, some great toys and organic bones to keep my teeth nice and white, A new fancy collar and a lovely Blue Harness it was a great day with a lot more pampering than usual, It was such fun.
My "other names"
I did have a little problem with my name for a while I was sure it was Oliver, but on many occasions they called me "Primrose" I thought that pretty strange, that's a girl's name. I have since got to the bottom of it. Primrose was my mum and dads little dog, who got very sick and passed away. she was cremated and sits on top of the cabinet in a beautiful polished wooden box surrounded by her favorite toys. I am not allowed to play with her toys, that's fine by me, I do have lots of my own.
Another thing that worries me a little, some folks call me Ollie, my mum doesn't like it, neither do I, so I hope they stop doing that. If I ask them nicely maybe they will!
Goodbye for Now
Now I have to say Goodnight. I am allowed on the end of mum and dad's bed, I love their bed, only until they turn the light out. Then they tuck me into my bed and I dream of what my friend Flipper and I will do tomorrow.
"Goodnight everyone, sleep tight".
I do hope you enjoy reading my story, on what it is like being a Shih Tzu/Toy Poodle Puppy. :) :) :)
P.S. I have asked my mum if I dictate the replies to any comments I may receive would she type them for me and she said yes. yap, yap, that's a load off my mind. Bye. "Oliver"

OM! Thanks for letting Oliver tell his story!
That was so cute. Thank you.
What a fun and delightful story, I have a black toy poodle and a black cat, I could not live without my pets, I call them my children and they are very lucky to have me as their mum. Thank you for a fantastic hub thumbs up
Beautiful story Oliver! I wish all the dogs in the world lived like you do! Gee wiz, I wish I lived like you do!
You are one very lucky puppy.
Hello, oliversmum- This is 8PM here and I liked very much the way you have told the beautiful story(rather Oliver the naughty told)I really liked it.Thanks.
Woof woof, Oliver (or Primrose?). Thanks for sharing your story. You're soooooooooo cute. And your mom is a great hubber. This hub makes me smile. =D

Hello Oliver, you are such a delightful little fellow! Hope we are going to be seeing a lot more of you here! :)
Oliver - you're a delight - and it was really great to hear your story here! I can tell your Mum and Dad are real lucky parents.
such a wonderful story thanks for sharing your life with us Oliver, It was so delightful, I enjoyed it a lot. ~aloha~
Hello Oliver about time you had some real doggy friends to mentor you. I'm well over puppyhood and it's a long time since I've been "a naughty boy" but I can still wag my tail with the best of them. Enjoy having humans but make sure you train them well - a badly behaved human is no fun!
Ah, Oliver is so cute! I really afraid of dog. I have several experience got accident because I had been chased by dog. Will oliver cute enough to make me not fear dog again? I wonder.
nice story oliver
Hi Oliver - my little Dougs would love you- Dougs is 8 and still plays like a puppy. Loved your story and pics, thanks.
Hey there Oliver! My name is Dusty and I am the Top Cat in our house. I live with Peaches, my buddy...another cat and Skippy, a little dog like you...only he is a Pomeranian I have heard. Whatever the case, I am the boss (Top Cat!) around here. Nice to hear that you have a nice mum and dad. So do we and ours are well trained. Sounds like you still have some work to do!
Oliver is such a cute dog. I enjoyed reading her story as well.
Hello Oliver! My dog India would have loved to be your friend. Looks like you have great parents! Thank you for inviting us into your life. You are a mighty handsome little guy!
What a great story , i myself had such a dog and love him to bits , but we have someone give him a lag bone that killed him
As your story tells what these dogs are like , we wish they could talk at times
This is so cute. I have a Shih Tzu named Oliver, too, and I think he'd enjoy this story :)
oliversmum - a great idea to post a hub from the vantage point of the puppy. When we get a cute little baby animal,we must remember that it is a baby and understands the world from the perspective of that animal. Oliver is adorable!
Oliver is a great writer!
Ohhhhh Oliver - I just love you so much. You are a very good writer too. I read your story to Clancey, my shih tzu. He doesnt much like other dogs, but he said he would like you and would even be ok if I made a fuss over you. His name is Clancey and he is supposed to be an "old man"...but he thinks he is still a young dog like you. Your mom is a wonderful lady, so be patient with her and enjoy training her! :-) Rated up and awesome.
I am very pleased to make your acquaintance Oliver..you are an absolutely adorable little man! I bet you'd love to play with my Amos...he's a chocolate labrador, and even though you are much smaller than he is, he is very gentle. I'm looking forward to more of your (and moms') writing in the future!
Thank you Oliver for a lovely story. I read it to my black labrador Misha and he told me that it was very interesting. Misha went to school and got a graduation certificate as well – he asked me to pass on his congratulations to you. Misha would like to play with you and introduce you to his big brother Ryan, who is a Leonberger. They would love you to join their games – the more the merrier! Misha would also like you to meet his three cat brothers. They like dogs, but you would have to be quiet and calm when you met them or they would run and hide.
What a lovely little dog. Thank you for a really entertaining hub. He looks just a little like my Elisabeth which made it nicer, but he seems so lovely. Handsome little guy.
No, not Elizabeth, the Queen, but Elisabeth de Valois, Princess of France, once married to Philip II of Spain… taken from my favourite Opera by Verdi: Don Carlo. Sounds a bit pretentious, but you did ask.
I LOVED IT................
aww oliver you are soooo cute.. i have a girl shihpoo her name is princess. she looks just like you.. :) you are adorable thanks for sharing your story
Nice article!
This is just too sweet. Thanks for story and photos. Francesca27
That was a great story and I have a shih poo named Olive. She looks very much like Oliver although she is now 13 years old, getting to be an old girl for sure but she can still run with the best of them. Olive's mother was the shih tzu who was black and white and her dad was the minature poodle and he was all white. Olive turned out looking like Oliver but not the white on her. They are very good dogs and LOVE sleeping anywhere next to Mommy. Have a wonderful life Oliver.....Love Nancy and Olive
